Set in the heart of Cardiff beside Sophia Gardens, Y Mochyn Du is where fresh craft beer meets seriously good food. We brew our own unpasteurised, vegan-friendly beers on-site, a full range from hoppy pale ales to rich nitro stouts, and match every pint to a dish on our menu. Whether you're after a casual lunch, a weeknight special or a long Sunday Roast, this is Cardiff's go-to microbrewery pub.

From Welsh rarebit and cawl to the Black Pig Tomahawk and all-day Sunday roasts, every dish is built around beer brewed a few feet from the bar. The drinks list runs from our own cask Best Bitter and Gwlad Session IPA to Belgian classics, Welsh gins and whiskies, cocktails, wines and a proper low & no range.

Private hire in the heart of Cardiff
Y Mochyn Du has two distinctive private hire spaces, The Conservatory and the Beach Huts, catering for everything from seated dinners of 45 to standing parties of 100. Set beside Sophia Gardens in the heart of the Welsh capital, it's a brilliant backdrop for birthdays, corporate events, celebrations and everything in between, all served with our own freshly brewed craft beer.
